LADIES AND ALIENS, DINOSAURS AND ASTRONAUTS, LISTEN UP!

This week, G&g continues its sponsorship with the MikiDZ web show, broadcasting live every Monday night from DJ City!

Our homies DJ Dainjazone and DJ Miki War host as always, interviewing world class DJs each and every week, while sporting the latest G&g threads, also available at DJ City, like this new Boombox Tee for $28 (shameless).

Ironically, on our first night of the sponsorship, July 19th, the MikiDZ show guests were DJ Second Nature and the legendary Screenwerks crew.

I say ironically because Second Nature has been one of the biggest key players in video DJ’ing since its early beginnings in 2004, and this was going down the very same week that B and I were prepping for our VJ set at the House of Blues.

I filmed most of the Screenwerks crew’s performances plus their in depth interview with Miki and Dainja about the growing VJ scene. We got mad clips plus our own thoughts to post on that real soon, just a heads up.

One thing I found interesting was how time consuming the prep work for these VJ mixes can be. The performer can spend weeks upon weeks preparing his videos to match song cues and loops that will then need tweaking and re-arranging all the way to the day of the gig. It’s not your typical DJ process at all.

Coming into the VJ scene as video guys, rather than DJs, we kinda have a unique position to play with. We’re used to sitting on Final Cut Pro, slicing up videos to match beats and synching vocals with symbolic visuals. You know, we eventually wanna make high value music videos, but with so much content out there today with new YouTube virals, old school TV clips, and dope music remixes, the world is just asking us to mash it all up.

So yea, it’s true what they say. VJs killed the everything store.
